Millim Studio

About

Millim Studio is a Rome based design studio dedicated to research, conceptual exploration, and material valorization. Their practice focuses on processes, exploring new visions in which form and content interact in the creation of unpublished and contemporary works. Founders Chiara Pellicano and Edoardo Giammarioli value research and time in the creation of sustainable, unique, and innovative projects, investigating the concept of beauty through artworks, products, installations, and interiors. Their vision is directed towards the creation of new expressive forms capable of establishing stable connections between culture, art, design, and communication.

In 2024 Millim Studio was selected among the 20 Talents by AD Germany. In 2019, the studio won the Wallpaper* Design Award in the "Best Dream Design Factory" category.

2026__When Space Becomes

Set Design / Exhibition Design

When Space Becomes celebrates space as a process: each element takes shape and transforms, boundaries thin out, and the visitor becomes an active participant in their own experience.

On the occasion of Milan Design Week 2026, Millim Studio presents a sitespecific intervention for Piloto Milano within the courtyard of Residenza Vignale, temporarily transformed into the space hosting the Luceferma Mediterranean Bar.

The project explores the relationship between structure, perception, and matter. Rather than constructing a scene, the installation operates through subtraction and fragmentation. A sequence of thresholds and partitions organizes the space, selecting the gaze and multiplying perspectives.

Between inside and outside. Between structure and image. Between construction and completion. Between solid and void. Between what is revealed and what is withheld.

The
space does not present itself as a finished whole, but unfolds in fragments. A place where matter and form meet, suspend, and continuously rewrite themselves: a space in becoming, where the observer becomes an active part of their own experience. Structure asserts itself as the primary element, expressing a functional beauty measured through order, rhythm, and proportion. The courtyard does not reveal itself all at once, but emerges in moments: each opening becomes a device for vision, prompting the gaze to compose and complete what is missing.

The visitor does not simply move through the space, but constructs a progressive reading of it, in a continuous dialogue between geometries and frames. The courtyard thus takes shape as a device of anticipation, an open system in which nothing is definitive and every configuration remains potentially transient.
